The Saint-Scientist Vallalar has a precise answer for what you came here for, which is divine sages wisdom teaching. Below, you will find the practical path that begins after spiritual awakening β the transformation of daily life and the body itself, as documented by Vallalar. Many traditions treat awakening as a final destination, a state of awareness to be reached and maintained. Vallalarβs work begins where others stop, offering a science for what comes next.
To understand why this matters, we need to look at the man who documented it.
The Life and Teachings of Vallalar

Ramalinga Swamigal, known as Vallalar, was a 19th-century Tamil mystic whose collected writings, the Thiru Arutpa, remain one of the most extraordinary spiritual records ever produced. His life was filled with remarkable feats β though he dismissed anything supernatural, insisting that everything he did was a science. He established a center for feeding the poor that has operated continuously, without interruption, for over 150 years. On January 30, 1874, accounts from those present record that he locked himself in a room in Mettukuppam and was never seen again β his body never found. This event is documented by government records and by British Collector John Henry Garstin.
Awakening Is a Beginning, Not a Destination
In most spiritual discourse, awakening is the goal. For Vallalar, it is the first step. The recognition that something deeper exists, that the material world does not fully satisfy, that the soul craves something it has not yet found: this is the first stirring of Jeeva Karunyam opening the path to Arut Perum Jyothi.
This initial discontent is not a problem to be solved but a signal to be answered. It is the soulβs homing instinct activating. Vallalar taught that this feeling is the divine grace-light, Arut Perum Jyothi, beginning to make its presence felt. The path is not about transcending the world but transforming it, starting with the one thing you have direct control over: your own body and actions.
What comes after this initial awakening is the practical work. It is a path of conscious, daily transformation through compassion, mantra, and the gradual purification of the body toward its divine potential.
What This divine sages wisdom teaching Requires Daily
The path Vallalar laid out is not one of abstract belief but of consistent, daily practice. He taught that the transformation of the body into a vessel of light depends on two core principles: compassion in action and purification through sound.
The absolute foundation of this path is Jeeva Karunyam, or compassion for all living beings. This is not a passive feeling of goodwill but an active commitment to not causing harm and to alleviating the suffering of others, especially hunger. Vallalar taught that none of the more advanced techniques can take root without Jeeva Karunyam. The act of eating meat, which requires the fear and death of another creature, was seen by him as a primary obstacle to spiritual progress, as it embeds the energy of suffering directly into the physical body.
The central tool for purification is the Mahamantra. This is not just a prayer but a scientific formula for invoking the divine grace-light. The practice is to repeat it as often as possible, infusing the mind and body with its vibration.

The translation is: The Vast Grace-Light. The Vast Grace-Light. The Incomparable Great Compassion. The Vast Grace-Light.
Reciting this mantra, combined with a compassionate, plant-based diet as detailed in his text Nithya Karma Vidhi, begins the process of changing the body at a fundamental level.
The Three Stages of a Divinely Transformed Body
Vallalar documented a three-stage process of physical transformation, moving the body from a gross, perishable form to an eternal body of light. This process is not metaphorical; he described it as a literal, biological alchemy.
Stage 1: Suddha Deham β The Pure Body
This is the first achievable state for a dedicated practitioner. Through consistent Jeeva Karunyam, a plant-based diet, and recitation of the Mahamantra, the physical body is purified of all gross impurities. The result is a body that is free from disease, radiates a natural luminosity, and has a significantly reduced need for food and sleep. It becomes light, agile, and impervious to the normal processes of aging and decay.
As the purification continues, the Suddha Deham evolves into the Pranava Deham. Here, the physical form becomes even more subtle and translucent. Vallalar described this body as being composed of sound and light, no longer fully bound by physical laws. Witnesses documented that his own body in later years cast no shadow, a phenomenon associated with this stage. This Primal Body is visible but not entirely material, capable of extraordinary feats that defy conventional physics.
Stage 3: Gnana Deham β The Wisdom Body
The final stage is the complete dissolution of the individual form into the infinite ocean of Arut Perum Jyothi, the divine grace-light. This is the deathless body, a body of pure wisdom and grace. Vallalar is the only one known to have fully documented and demonstrated this final transformation, which culminated in his physical disappearance at Mettukuppam. While the Tibetan Buddhist tradition speaks of a βRainbow Body,β where the physical form dissolves into light at death, Vallalarβs teaching describes a process that occurs while fully alive, culminating in a conscious merging with the Divine.
Your First Step on This Path Today
The entire path of bodily transformation begins with one principle: Jeeva Karunyam. Before mantra or diet, compassion must become a conscious action.
Today, find one small, tangible way to prevent or alleviate the suffering of another living being. It could be placing a bowl of water outside for birds and animals, sharing food with someone in need, or choosing a plant-based meal over an animal-based one. Do not do it for reward or spiritual gain. Do it simply because another being suffers, and you have the power to reduce that suffering. This single act is the true start of the path.
